What happens if you don't get enough Pyridoxine?

A deficiency of pyridoxine in the diet gives rise to a nutritional condition characterised by:
  • dermatitis
  • glossitis
  • cheilosis
  • stomatitis
Marked deficiency causes:
  • irritability
  • anemia
  • weakness
  • depression
  • dizziness
  • peripheral neuropathy
  • seizures
In infants and children typical manifestations are diarrhoea, anaemia, and seizures.

Causes

Increasingly recognised as a cause is prolonged therapy with certain medications, among them isoniazid, cycloserine, and l-dopa.
